Penang Affordable Housing Scheme has been announced by YB Jagdeep Singh during a few occasions:

In April 2014, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said that PLB Land Sdn Bhd had agreed to build the affordable home units ranging from 750 to 1,000 sq feet priced between RM292,500 and RM390,000 at Lot 9811-9841, Tingkat Paya Terubong 4, Mukim 13, Daerah Barat Daya, Penang.

We seek further clarification from YB Jagdeep on the followings :
Are the affordable home schemes (Table 1) provided by the State Government applicable to all developers?
Why the prices of the Paya Terubong Affordable Home Project by PLB Land Sdn Bhd exceed the prices of the affordable home scheme provided by the State Government (Table 2)?
Why is there an overcharged amount of RM92,500 for each unit of the 750 sq ft affordable home?
Why is there an overcharged amount of RM31,500 for each unit of the 850 sq ft affordable home?
Why did the State Government allow PLB Land Sdn Bhd to sell the affordable home units at an overcharged price?
We are worried whether this is another incident where the state government is bowed to threats by the developer. Look at what had happened to the Khaw Sim Bee Mansion. The planning permission for a new mega project was approved on the site of a demolished historical mansion in return for the developer’s RM3 million contribution to the State Heritage Fund.
This may set a bad precedent by bowing to threats and allowing special arrangements made by developers for affordable home projects.
We are worried, at the expense of the Penangnites, someone is making profit out of this affordable home’ sales in putting the price for every unit above the affordable home scheme. As usual, the state government is not protecting or safeguarding the people’s interests against financially strong developers.
We hope the state government can answer the above questions. If they fail to answer, indeed, the CAT policy is dead. The CAT is dead!
